Mabe Pearls are formed on the inner shell of Mabe Oysters with iridescent colors. Mabe Pearls, also known as ‘Blister Pearls,” are distinct in how no 2 Mabes are ever alike.
Mabe pearls are cultivated in the Ryukyu Islands of Japan and the Pacific South Seas. The pearls’ ultimate size is determined by the size of the nucleus attached to the oysters’ inner shell.

- Real pearls are made primarily of calcium carbonate. Perspiration or cosmetics can damage your pearls. Be sure to wipe your pearls gently with a dry soft cloth after each use.
- Apply perfume and hair spray before wearing your pearls.
- Keep pearls separate from other jewelry to prevent surface damage.
- Store your pearls in cool dry spaces, away from extreme temperature changes, direct sunlight, ultraviolet rays such as fluorescent lights, extreme dryness, moisture, and insect repellents, to prevent discoloration and cracking of pearls.
- Necklaces should be rethreaded every 2 to 3 years.
- The necklace thread may stretch and become more brittle over time. Hold the clasp and gently hang the necklace loosely. If you see any irregularities in the threading, bring the necklace to us immediately.
- All necklaces purchased at Pearl FALCO will be rethreaded free of charge.
