Our Story
Founded in the serene coastal region of Ise Shima, Japan, our family has worked with pearls through selection, grading, design, and craftsmanship for over 40 years. What began as a tribute to nature and craftsmanship by the Makito family has grown into a respected name in fine pearl jewelry, known for creating timeless pieces filled with meaning and elegance.
Now led by Maiko Makito, who left her corporate career in 2016 to carry on her father’s legacy, the brand continues to blend heritage with vision. Today our mission goes beyond jewellery, to share the stories, people, and nature behind pearls with the world and pass on true value of pearls to future generations. Each handcrafted piece reflects the nature, love, care, and human connection at the heart of this enduring gem.

Maiko’s Challenge
Inspired by her hometown of Ise Shima, the birthplace of all cultured pearls, Maiko Makito is dedicated to preserving the rich history of cultured pearls. As founder of the Grand Prix of Akoya Pearl Jewelry in Asia and host of Pearl Appreciation Workshops, she educates enthusiasts and industry professionals alike. Maiko is also producing the Pearl Legacy Project, a documentary highlighting the artistry and traditions of cultured pearls.
Through the Pearl of HOPE Project, Maiko has supported children’s education across Asia for over 30 years, creating opportunities for future generations.

Ise Shima, known for its breathtaking beauty, is the birthplace of the world-renowned Akoya pearls. In the clear, pristine water, dedicated local farmers nurture oysters to produce these iconic pearls, which symbolize both elegance and tradition.
