2021 Grand Prix Akoya Pearl Jewellery Singapore Edition
– Shined infinitely to a successful event-

“The Secret Beauty of Ise-Shima – Akoya Pearl and Ama”  and “2021 Grand Prix Akoya Pearl Jewellery Ise Shima, Singapore Edition” were jointly organized by Pearl FALCO, Japanese Embassy in Singapore and Japan Creative Center (JCC)  The exhibition and voting activities were held earlier in a combination of online and offline methods, allowing entrants from all over the world to showcase their creativity, and also let the public know more about the story behind Akoya pearls.

The theme of the 2021 Grand Prix Akoya Pearl Jewellery is ​​”Connection”, which means that each of our lives is like a pearl necklace, made up of different moments. Each moment or memory, shines as bright as a pearl with a different luster and colour. The organizers received a total of 92 entries from 10 countries. After six months of online and offline exhibition and voting in Ise-Shima, 30 shortlisted entries were selected and held in Singapore for a week Exhibitions and votes to compete for the glory of the top 5.

The student from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, (NAFA)  won the first place. In addition to offline opening and exhibition activities, the organizer also held an online live seminar on “Discovering Ise Shima & Ama Divers”, which attracted many people to watch. The seminar was hosted by Maiko Makito,  Managing Director of Pearl FALCO. She introduced her hometown – Ise Shima, Japan – the birthplace of cultured pearls. Online tour show of the streets of Old Ise-Shima town and an interview with ama divers allowed attendants to learn about this long-established culture and history in Ise Shima.

While 2021 Grand Prix Akoya Pearl Jewellery came to a successful conclusion, the organizer also announced the theme of the 2022 Grand Prix – “Moonlight”.
