When people hear about our Pearl of HOPE project, they often assume it is a project to support children in villages.
In many ways, it is.
But over the years, I have realised that Pearl of HOPE has also become something much more personal.
Every year, I return to these villages thinking about what I can give. Every year, I leave feeling that I have received far more than I brought.
The children remind me how naturally hope can exist, even where life is not easy.
The families remind me that happiness is not always measured by what we own, but often by the relationships we build and the lives we share.
The villages remind me that progress and tradition can coexist. People deserve opportunities to improve their lives while preserving the values and culture that define who they are.
Most of all, they remind me of something I often forget in my busy life.
Beyond our professions, responsibilities and achievements, we are all simply human.
We are born in different countries, at different times, into different circumstances. Yet we all carry our own hopes, responsibilities, struggles and dreams.
Perhaps that is why I continue to return. Not because I believe I can change the world.
But because every journey changes me.
Pearl of HOPE is not only about giving hope. It is also about receiving wisdom, gratitude and perspective from the people I meet.
Every visit reminds me that understanding another person’s life is one of the greatest gifts we can receive.
That is why, every year, I leave with far more than I bring.
